Summary
The Nutrioso 550 (aka “The Nut Box”) is back on the air after a nearby lightning strike took it offline. The full repeater and controller stack has been replaced, although diagnostics on-site revealed that only the controller was damaged. The decommissioned repeater will be re-used at a future site.
It’s suspected that a power surge came through an Ethernet cable. To mitigate this issue in the future, an additional ground bus and supplemental surge protectors were installed to help prevent transient currents.
