The Sandia 675 machine is in the process of being converted to a voting/simulcast station. It currently consist of transmit sites at Sedillo Hill and on the Sandia Crest, with an additional receive voting site at the 500 Marquette building and at West Mesa. The Sedillo Hill 650 no longer exists and has been ‘assimilated’ onto 462.675 Mhz.
While the repeater is being upgraded; it’s normal to expect some downtime and distortion – simulcasting requires very precise alignment between transmit sites, and audio launching has to be timed to account for the delay in propagation of radio waves at the speed of light (down to the microsecond!) – so naturally there’s a bit of tweaking a tuning that needs to take place.
